Rethinking November

Rethinking November

The opinion is almost unanimous: November is the unloved month of the calendar. While the temperature is dropping and the sun is getting a little less present, who said November had to be dreary? So we've made it our mission to deconstruct this vision by sharing a few ideas to brighten up the 11th month of the year!

Step #1: Get in the holiday spirit!

It's time to sing Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé - and Celine Dion, we admit it! - at the top of your lungs! Well, we're certainly not going to judge you. Halloween is over, so it's the perfect time to start thinking about your holiday decorations. Let's put away the pumpkins and get out the Christmas tree! 🎄

Have fun putting up some decorations with family members or friends with a little eggnog in hand (or any other festive beverage). There's nothing like it to bring a little joy and magic into November!

Our trip to Sweden a few years ago made us fall in love with a GREAT idea: putting lights around your windows. The little magical, cozy touch you need to polish off your Christmas decor. ✨

Step #2: discover the Christmas markets

We think November is the perfect time to awaken your epicurean side. Christmas markets are quietly starting to be in full swing, so it's the perfect opportunity to store for your Christmas gifts and cheer on local artisans. 🎁 Plus, it gets you out of hibernation mode and stretches your legs a bit!

We buy almost ALL of our gifts from local businesses. We have to admit that we are pretty proud of this!

In fact, we will be participating in a few markets during the months of November and December. So we would be more than happy if you ever feel like coming to meet us! We have a lot of eco-local gift wrapping for you to discover, just in time for the holiday season.

Here are the dates to remember:

  • November 26 and 27, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.: Marché des Fêtes au Locoshop Angus organized by the Collectif Créatif Montréal. More than 80 creators from Montreal and Quebec will be present to offer you hundreds of local products.
  • December 2 to 4, between XX h and XX h: Marché des artisans récupérateurs à la Maison du développement durable. This is the only eco-friendly event in Quebec province to find beautiful Christmas gifts, with over 30 participating artisans.

If you can't make it to the event, we invite you to discover our products in our online store. Our holiday collection is freshly released and contains an array of festive gift wrapping: gift bags, wine bags, Chritmas bows and Furoshikis, not to mention our must-have Vice-Versaᴷᴵᵀ. 💚

Step #3: let your creative side go

It's time to let your imagination run wild and try DIYs! For example, we suggest that you make your own garlands and wreaths with a few conifer branches and pinecones recovered from outside. Not only will it cost you less, but it's also environmentally friendly! Plus, the result will be really cute!

November is also the perfect time to start cooking for December. Many things can be prepared in advance and frozen: meat pies, desserts, soups, etc. This way, it reduces the amount of food needed to prepare and it reduces some of the unnecessary stress of being last minute for Christmas Eve!

Final step: take some time for yourself!

Last but not least. The colder temperatures may force us to slow down a bit before the holiday hustle and bustle, and that's not a bad thing!

There are many options available to you, such as going to a spa, pampering yourself with a nice meal at a restaurant or taking a weekend getaway. Our favorite activity: taking our break outside to catch some sun! Let's just say it's a nice change of pace 😉

On that note, we wish you a happy, relaxing and FUN November!
